Meet, learn and participate in a workshop led by celebrated authors and poets. Also enjoy a Yoga and meditation session designed to fuel your creative energy, and an opportunity to perform for an audience. You will also have the chance to have a personal meeting with a professional editor to discuss your work. Lastly, submit your work to be published in the Getting in Touch with the Source anthology.

Join us September 17 at 5:00 p.m. as we welcome Dr. Steve Perry, founder of the nationally acclaimed Connecticut Collegiate Awareness and Preparation Program, as he speaks from his new book Push Has Come To Shove: Getting Our Kids the Education They Deserve-Even If It Means Picking a Fight.   

Known for his colorful bluntness and "whatever it takes" refusal to compromise kids' futures, Dr. Perry takes on the education system in this "no-holds-barred" book. He offers a hands-on approach to take direct action, using the astoundingly successful high school he founded as an example of how to get school right.

FESTIVAL: Decatur Book Festival Sept. 2-4, 2011

The Decatur Book Festival is a sensational (and free!) way to hear and meet authors, get your photograph with them, and have them sign your books, and, along the way, discover fascinating goods for sale, visit the Atlanta Writers Club booth on E. Ponce de Leon near the Atlanta Journal-Constitution tent, and eat funnel cakes and assorted food on sticks.

Did you know there is also a free Writers Conference that is part of the Festival? On Friday, September 2  at 3:00 p.m., the DBF Writers Conference kicks off with a keynote address by mystery writer Nora McFarland in McClean Auditorium at Agnes Scott College. The writing workshops will follow from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Buttrick Hall, also at Agnes Scott College, given by some of Atlanta's finest authors as well as out-of-towners present for the Festival.
