Celebrate the Red, White & Blue - July 4th

July 4th is one of those holidays where you can usually find me at a friend’s house enjoying BBQ and beverages and indulging in some childhood fun with sparklers. But if you like to go out and go big for this fireworks-filled holiday, here are some cool places in Atlanta to check out!
Fireworks Shows:
Lenox Square - 7/4 - FREE! Fun activities for kids/adults all day starting at noon, Fireworks show starts at 9:40pm. Lots of great restaurants in the area so make a day of it!
Stone Mountain - 7/2 - 7/4 - $10 parking, additional $ for activities. Family of 4’s best bet is the Family Value Pass $119+. Lasershow includes a fireworks display all three nights!!
Centennial Olympic Park - 7/4 - FREE! Fun begins at 2pm when the park opens. Family activities like face painting, stilt walkers, Fountain of Rings, live music and more! Fireworks display starts after last 8:30pm musical performance.
Decatur Celebration - 7/4 - FREE! The annual Pied Piper parade begins at 6pm, followed by a live concert by the Callanwolde Concert Band and a fireworks display.

Other cool food/local events:
Peachtree Road Race - A 4th of July tradition! Starts at Lenox Square at 7:30am. Cheer on the runners as they make their way through Atlanta!


Red, White & Blue with a View at The Sun Dial - 7/4 5pm. Get the best view in town at this 360 restaurant and bar located at the top of the Westin Downtown. $69 prix fixe dinner for couples, family option is $45/$22 buffet for adults and kids. Drinks only? $30 cover gets you access to the view, nacho bar and drink specials.
Red White & Brew - Georgia Aquarium - 7/4 6pm-10:30pm $45/$5 parking. Brew tastings, Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ, live concert by Yacht Rock Revue, great view of Centennial Park fireworks show.
BBQ & Brew - Woodfire Grill - Sat 7/2 5:30-11pm. $38 all-American dinner.
Kevin Gillespie’s three-course menu includes an appetizer course; an entrée course consisting of a BBQ plate made with Gillespie’s Terminus City BBQ sauce, Brunswick stew and two traditional sides; and fruit cobbler for dessert.  There will also be freshly baked cornbread and Southern-style white bread on every table.  The bar will be serving SweetWater draft specials all night long with proceeds from beer sales going to Save the Hooch.
All-American Celebration with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra - 7/4 8pm $12+. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre hosts an evening filled with patriotic standards, singalong anthems and classical thunder, featuring the U.S. Army Chorus. Huge fireworks display as well!
So whether it’s out and about or just hanging with family and friends, I hope you have a fantastic 4th of July holiday! Go USA!!
Chef Andrew Smith will be roasting a whole Riverview Farms Berkshire pig, as well as offering smoked all natural chicken.  Menu offers an array of savory sides like grilled corn on the cob, potato salad, braised pole beans, vine ripe tomato salad and much more.  The menu also includes Texas toast, three house-made sauces and choice of dessert: Southern banana pudding or caramelized peach ice cream.
Rooftop 866 Summer Cookout - 7/4 12-5pm. $10 buffet.
Buffet includes tasty plates including hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad and an array of delicious desserts.  Rooftop 866 will also be offering buy-one-get-one-free Boozy Pops ($3), $3 draft beer and cocktail specials.
